Angelina Jolie honored by Queen of England for humanitarian work

                  Angelina Jolie was a special kind of Hollywood royalty. Now it's official — on Friday, the Queen of England named the Oscar-winning actress an honorary dame, in honor of her work fighting sexual violence and for services to UK foreign policy. Jolie was presented with the award at Buckingham Palace in London, in a private meeting with the Queen. Her recognition is part of the Diplomatic Service and Overseas Birthday 2014 Honours List. The official honor is called the Insignia of an Honorary Dame Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George. Continue...  

Why Google shut down Linda Ikeji Blog

                       Google, on Thursday, explained that it does not tolerate the violation of its Terms of Service, which include intellectual property theft, but declined to categorically say that was why it shut down popular Nigerian blog, Linda Ikeji’s Blog.The company said it does not discuss individual accounts. The company had on Wednesday removed the blog from its Blogger platform days after an intellectual property activist reported the site for copyright infringement. The firm said practices such as plagiarism diminish the experience of its users but said it would not discuss individual accounts .“Google is dedicated to offering users the best possible experience across our products,” said Kola-Ogunlade, the company’s communication and public affairs manager for Anglophone West Africa when contacted over the deletion of the popular blog. Bird allegedy turns into woman at Oshodi

                    According to Twitter user, @davidTheGear , a few minutes ago at Oshodi, a bird fell from a high tension wire and landed on the ground and turned into a woman. The woman that the bird supposedly turned into had most of her skin peeled. Photo above. 

18yr old kills his own mother and loses his virginity to her corpse

        18 year old Kevin Jazrael Davis (pictured left) has been sentenced to life in prison for killing his own mother. According to reports, Kevin attacked his mother (pictured right) with a hammer, striking her 20 times on the head, on March 26th 2014 at their home and then had sex with her corpse. According to the Corpus Christi Caller-Times , in a police video showed to jurors during his trial, Kevin confessed to having violent and sexual fantasies involving women, including his own mother and sister. He attacked his mother when they were alone and turned himself in to police the next day. Kevin, who told police that he was not insane and knew what he was doing, said he put his hand inside her mother's head to feel her brain and then lost his virginity to her corpse. He was sentenced to life in prison on Wednesday October 8th

Pakistani Child Education Activist Malala Yousafzai Wins Nobel Peace Prize

                A 17year old Pakistani child education activist, Malala Yousafzai has made history as the youngest person to ever win the Nobel peace prize. Kailash Satyarthi, an Indian child rights campaigner, has also won the prize, BBC reports. As you will recall, Yousafzai was shot in the head in October 2012 by Taliban gunmen because she was campaigning for girls’ education rights. Satyarthi, 60, campaigns for children’s rights by using Mahatma Ghandi’s model of peaceful protests to inspire change. He is well known in humanitarian circles, for his campaigns against the exploitation of children for financial gain. The Nobel committee lauded Yousafzai and Satyarthi’s “struggle against the suppression of children and young people”.

American passenger bundled off U.S. to Dominican Republic flight by hazmat team after sneezing and joking 'I have Ebola!'

                        Hazmat team rushed on to a plane from Philadelphia in the Dominican Republic after a man sneezed and yelled: 'I have Ebola!'  dailymail.  reports. The American passenger, who does not have Ebola, was detained by four officers and taken to the airport's medical center in Punta Cana as he declared: 'I ain't from Africa'. The remaining 255 people were forced to stay on board for two hours until he was cleared, despite airline staff insisting they believed it was a poor-taste joke. Continue...

Ebola: 591 Nigerians to Join Volunteer Group to Fight Virus in Liberia, Guinea & Sierra Leone

                         Nigeria’s success in containing the Ebola Virus Disease, has been hugely lauded by governments all around the world. Through the formation of an international volunteer group, the country is set to impart its knowledge and techniques about battling the virus to the countries that are most affected by the deadly disease: Liberia, Guinea, and Sierra Leone. A total of 591 Nigerians have registered to join the Ebola volunteer group, which will be deployed to the aforementioned countries, The Nation reports.
