Gunmen kill police sergeant in Benue

                                Benue State Police Command has launched a manhunt for gunmen, who killed a policeman, Sergeant Bawa Ekoja, attached to ‘Operation Dzenda’ in Makurdi, the state capital. The command’s image-maker, Daniel Ezeala (SP), in a telephone chat with Daily Sun, said Ekoja was going back home after closing from night duty at a hotel located in Ankpa Quarters, Makurdi, when the assailants in an ash Toyota Camry car shot him in his back. Ezeala, explained that the deceased policeman was on his motorcycle when the gunmen shot him and he died immediately, adding that his corpse had been deposited at the morgue of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Makurdi. Confusion as residents find baby’s placenta with Alfa

                                    The discovery of a baby placenta in the residence of a man, identified simply as Alfa Gani, is causing confusion in the Laduba community, Ogidi area of Ilorin, Kwara State. Our correspondent gathered on Thursday that the discovery was made when some volunteers went round the Laduba community to appeal for financial contributions from residents for the repair of a faulty transformer in the area. Abba replaces Abubakar as IG

                         President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday named an Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba, as the acting Inspector-General of Police. Abba, who until his appointment was the AIG in charge of Zone 7, takes over from Muhammed Abubakar, who proceeded on statutory retirement on Thursday. The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, who confirmed the change of guard in the police top echelons in a statement, said Abba’s appointment would take effect from Friday (today).                            Ebola virus may have crept into Anambra state emerged Thursday following the discovery of the corpse of a citizen of the state brought in a cargo from Liberia and deposited in the morgue of one Apex hospital in Nkwelle Ezunaka, Oyi council Area of the state. Buhari: Asari Dokubo Asks SSS to Investigate Allegation against Him

                                 Leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Salvation Force (NDPSF), Mujajid Dokubo Asari, has called on the Director General of the State Security Service (SSS) to investigate allegation that he procured suicide bombers to kill former Head of State Major-General Muhammdu Buhari (rtd). In a letter written to the Director General of SSS by his lawyer, Mr. Festus Keyamo, Dokubo said an online media, Rescue News, had published a news item that he was behind the bomb blasts that exploded last week Wednesday in Kaduna State that killed about eighty-five people and which was allegedly targeted at Buhari and an Islamic cleric, Sheik Dahiru Bauchi. Dokubo-Asari said he found the allegations too weighty and grave to be ignored or disregarded and that his life as well the lives of his family, close associates and kinsmen had come under threat because of the publication.
