Stage play pays tribute to Wole Soyinka at 80

  As part of Wole Soyinka's 80th birthday on July 5, the Thespian Family Theatre & Production will stage a popular Wole Soyinka play, The Lion & The Jewel', reports Pulse.ng The stage drama will take place at Terra Kulture, in Victoria Island and Freedom Park, during the months of July and August. The play is directed by Toyin Osinaike, and chronicles how Baroka, the lion, fights with the modern Lakunle over the right to marry Sidi, the titular Jewel.

Moses, Uzoenyi shine in Eagles training

                            The duo of Victor Moses and Ejike Uzoenyi were among players who did well during Super Eagles’ training on Tuesday in London. The team will tackle Scotland in an international friendly on Wednesday at the home ground of Fulham FC - Craven Cottage. All the players seemed determined to convince coach Stephen Keshi that they are ready for Brazil, but home based winger, Uzoenyi shone like a million star, and same for Ramon Azeez, Michael Uchebo and Moses, while the regulars did not fail to impress with skipper Joseph Yobo showing that he was still the commander in the defence line. Keshi said after the training that the players needed such a (rigorous) session to re-energise them and get them ready for the task of playing against the best in the world in Brazil. Jonathan asked to listen to Boko Haram's demands

                      An official in Chibok village where more than 200 schoolgirls were abducted by Boko Haram insurgents, has reportedly called on the government to listen to the group's demand for imprisoned militants to be freed in exchange for the girls' release. According to the Voice of America , Zanna Madu, who is the district head of Chibok town, said President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration should negotiate with the militants to win the girls’ release. On Sunday, Jonathan ruled out any negotiation to free the girls, saying the captives should be released "unconditionally". Madu's remarks came as Nigeria's defence Air Marshal Alex Badeh said on Monday that the military knew the girls' location, but would not use force to rescue them as any raid to free them would be fraught with danger.
