Ebola: Guinea begins compensation payments

                    The head of Guinea's Ebola mission has said the government has started paying compensation to the families of health workers who have died of the virus. Eight families have already been paid the $10,000 (£6,200) lump sum, Dr Saccoba Keita told the BBC. The families of 42 victims, including doctors, nurses, drivers and porters, had been identified to receive compensation, he said. The outbreak began in Guinea and so far has killed more than 900 people there. According to the latest report from the World Health Organization (WHO) , transmission of the virus in Guinea "remains intense". In total more than 4,800 people have died of Ebola, mainly in Guinea and the neighbouring countries of Liberia and Sierra Leone.

In a separate incident, at least five people were killed in a bomb blast at a bus station in a town in the northern state of Bauchi. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Hostage swaps News of the new abductions came as MPs approved a $1bn (£623m) loan - requested by the president in July - to upgrade military equipment and train more units fighting the north-eastern insurgency. But they asked the finance minister to give the chamber more details about how the external borrowing would be sourced. Manhunt for Murder Suspect Mistakenly Released

                         A manhunt is underway for a murder suspect who was mistakenly released from a Baltimore detention center and even the suspect's mother wants him back in prison. Rodriquez Purnell, 30, remains on the loose after he was accidentally allowed to walk free from Maryland Reception, Diagnostic and Classification Center on Friday.  abcnews  reports. Continue...
