Civil War: 44 Years Later, Igbo Demand N2.6tr As Compensation

                           Igbo delegates have asked the Federal Government to pay N2. 6 trillion as reparation and compensation for the destruction of Igbo lands during the civil war which took place between 1967 to 1970. According to them, millions of their people were killed and many of their states destroyed which brought hardship to Igbo survivors. In a document titled: “Atrocities and Injustices against Ndigbo: Ohaneze demand for Reparation” which was circulated with the amendment to the proposed National Intervention Fund, the delegates demanded that the Federal Government pay a total sum of N2.6trillion to South East States. The Local Government chairman of Amuwo Odofin has alleged that, a particular Community Policing YouthVanguard set up by Area ‘E’ Commander, ACP Dan Okoro yesterday attacked members of the environmental task force and Neighbourhood Watchers who were performing their lawful duty at Alakija with different weapons which injured many of them. The chairman also said this is not the first time a thing like this will happen and wants the government to ban the group immediately. Boko Haram kills 45 in fresh Borno village attack

                                Suspected members of the deadly Boko Haram Islamic sect on Monday attacked Dille village in Borno State, killed 45 people and torched several houses and shops and forced many people to flee into nearby hills for safety. The terrorists, it was gathered, came in a convoy of over 20 vehicles and motorcycles. According to one of the villagers, Njimtiku Papka, who spoke to journalists in Maiduguri on the phone, the terrorists on arriving the village started shooting indiscriminately at everyone in sight. He said, “Some of us had to flee into the nearby hills for safety, because the insurgents do not spare any person in their attacks and killings in the last three or four months. Monday’s attacks and killings bring to five other villages that had been attacked by Boko Haram gunmen, without being arrested by the military or police since January.” He lamented that among the peop...

Kwara Police Parade Nitel Cable Thieves, Kidnappers

                                      The Kwara State Police Command paraded four suspects for allegedly stealing Nitel cables worth nearly three million Naira in Offa Area of the State. The Police also paraded seven suspects involved in the kidnapping of a 23 year-old girl. After parading the four suspects for criminal conspiracy and the theft of Nitel cables, the State Commissioner of Police, Ambrose Aisabor, disclosed that the suspects came from Ijora in Lagos State to perpetrate the crime in Offa, Kwara State.
