Civil War: 44 Years Later, Igbo Demand N2.6tr As Compensation
Igbo delegates have asked the Federal Government to pay N2. 6 trillion as reparation and compensation for the destruction of Igbo lands during the civil war which took place between 1967 to 1970. According to them, millions of their people were killed and many of their states destroyed which brought hardship to Igbo survivors. In a document titled: “Atrocities and Injustices against Ndigbo: Ohaneze demand for Reparation” which was circulated with the amendment to the proposed National Intervention Fund, the delegates demanded that the Federal Government pay a total sum of N2.6trillion to South East States.
