Mr Ibu calls out Ibinabo Fiberisima, says 'we don't want her for a 2nd term'

John Okafor popularly known as Mr Ibu has asked AGN president Ibinabo Fiberisima to drop her ambition of running for a second term. According to him, about 90% of the association members do not want her as their leader, with many court cases being instituted against her. He says she is still adamant to rule because she is gaining something."Going for a second term is making the anger in people expand.  It is better for her not to come again. She should leave the office and allow another person to try. No progress at all. I am not part of it. As I speak with you, Ibinabo has about two to three court cases. We are tired, we want another person. We should try a new person, let's see what he or she would do. About 90% of the people she is ruling say no, but she insisted. Why?                      Violence broke out on the streets of Brazil after the dreams of millions of football fans were left in tatters last night. Spectators inside The Mineirao Stadium in Belo Horizonte were in tears as their side succumbed to a humiliating 7-1 defeat to Germany in the World Cup semi-final, ending dreams of a title on home soil. In response, riot police were out in force in several Brazilian cities in case trouble kicked off. In Rio de Janeiro officers descended on Copacabana beach amid reports of gunfire. Police parade suspected baby factory operators in Rivers

                              The Rivers State Police Command on Tuesday paraded three pregnant women and a 36-year-old man suspected to be involved in producing babies for sale. The ‘baby factory’ suspects, who were arrested at Igwuruta in Ikwerre Local Government Area, on July 5, 2014, were identified as Odinchinma Nwala (25), Glory Anyanwu (22), Goodness Nwankwo (19), and Stanley Okechukwu (male, 36). “The girls were brought from different local government areas, and further investigation revealed that after delivering, he will settle (pay) the girls N100,000 per baby girl and N150,000 for a baby boy before selling the babies,” the DPO said. Mohammed said he was following the directive of the state Commissioner of Police to enlighten the communities within his jurisdiction on the need for landlords to be mindful of the people they habour in their houses and their occupations. Gunmen invade UNILAG, shoot student

                         Unknown gunmen threw the University of Lagos, Akoka, Yaba, Lagos, into chaos on Monday after they invaded the King Jaja Hall area of the institution and shot at students. Although it was not clear whether the attack was carried out by cultists, our correspondent gathered that a student was shot in the head in the mayhem. The student, who was identified as Sapara, was said to be a final year student of Philosophy. Eyewitnesses said Sapara’s face was covered in blood after a bullet scraped the side of his head. It was learnt that the victim was subsequently taken to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, where he was said to be in stable condition. One of the eyewitnesses, who pleaded anonymity for safety reason, said, “It was scary. We heard the gunshots from the King Jaja Hall area and everybody just ran for cover. Stephen Keshi demands N10m-a-month contract

                       Stephen Keshi has reportedly demanded a significant salary hike to sign a new contract to remain as Nigeria coach. According to africanfootball.com on Tuesday, Keshi, who announced last week that his contract with the Nigeria Football Federation had expired after the Super Eagles crashed out of the World Cup following their 2-0 defeat by France, told President Goodluck Jonathan that he will sign a new deal if the NFF agrees to pay him N10m a month. The former Nigeria captain received N5m a month in his initial contract. Keshi made the demand when he met with Jonathan at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja on arrival from the World Cup in Brazil. He was also said to have demanded that his new salary be paid upfront to avoid the delays he suffered in the previous deal, as well as the recall of his former assistant Sylvanus Okpalla. My father provoked me – Killer son

                                     The 21-year-old Redeemer’s University undergraduate, Tolani, who killed his father,last Thursday, has said his late father provoked him into killing him. Tolani murdered his father at Canaanland Street in the Redemption Camp along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State. The 300-level student of Department of History and International Relations, spoke with our correspondent on Tuesday at the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta , where he was being detained for the crime.
