Dangote still tops the list Nigeria has overtaken South Africa by topping the Forbes’ list of Africa’s richest people. In the list of 50 richest people in Africa released recently, business mogul, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, topped the list with12 other wealthy Nigerians on the continent’s 50 richest people. In the latest list, South Africa came second with 11 richest persons, down from 14 it had last year. Nigeria’s new strength was attributed to its efforts in eradicating the Ebola Virus Disease in the country this year, which Dangote helped to fund. Continue...

Florida State University police kill 3 gunmen; 3 injured

A least three people were shot early Thursday at Florida State University library before campus police killed the gunman, Tallahassee police said. Officers confronted the gunman and ordered him to drop his weapon, but he fired one shot at them and they unleashed a volley of shots, Tallahassee Police spokesman Dave Northway said Nursing supervisor Ian Clark at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare, a Level 2 trauma center, confirmed that patients had been brought to the facility with gunshot wounds but declined to elaborate further. University President John Thrasher described the shootings as an isolated incident but also said police did "an extraordinary job taking quick and decisive action to prevent further tragedy." Ebola crisis in Liberia: 'One in two workers now jobless

Nearly half of all Liberians who were employed when the Ebola outbreak began are no longer working, a survey by the World Bank has found. It said many workers have been told to stay at home or have lost their jobs, while markets have been forced to shut. Earlier, a World Bank economist said the Ebola outbreak was expected to cost the region about $3-4bn (£1.9-2.5bn). Ebola has infected about 14,000 people in West Africa, killing more than 5,000 - with about 2,800 deaths in Liberia. Continue...
