Armed robbers, last weekend, attacked a bank branch in the premises of University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, carting away millions of naira from the bank’s Automated Teller Machines, ATMs. It was gathered that two policemen on duty that night were killed while the private guards were bound and locked up inside the strongroom in the bank. But a lady, who was in the company of the private security guards at the time of the robbery, sustained gunshot wounds. The incident which occurred barely one month after a similar robbery attack on another bank branch on the campus, Sources said the dare-devil robbers took advantage of the downpour on Friday night to launch the attack. “The robbers came in the middle of the night and shot the two policemen. One of them died on the spot while the other died on the way to hospital. Three big holes from where the ATMs were removed by the gang were seen when Vanguard visited the bank, yesterday.
