ACCUSED IN MURDER CONSPIRACY WISHED HER HUSBAND WAS DEAD

A Las Vegas woman accused of conspiring to kill her then-estranged husband testified that she had wished the man was dead but only out of frustration over alleged abuse by him during their marriage.Amy Bessey, 43, is accused of planning to kill Robert Bessey in a botched November 2012 drive-by shooting carried out by her brother and son. Amy Bessey faces up to 91 years in prison if she's convicted of the seven charges against her, including attempted murder, solicitation to commit murder and conspiracy. She has pleaded not guilty to all charges.Bessey took the stand Monday afternoon and told jurors that she never asked anyone to kill her husband, but did say out loud that she wished he was dead."I was fed up. I just wanted it to be done. I just said it. I wish he was dead," Bessey testified.Robert Bessey was shot in the neck shortly before his divorce to Amy was to be finalized and before he was able to change the beneficiary of the $250,000 life insurance policy.Amy

By SaharaReporters, New York Former Managing Director of the defunct Concord Newspapers, Dr. Doyin Abiola has been arraigned before the Federal High Court, Lagos, for fraud. A statement signed by Police Public Relations Officer DSP Ngozi Isintume-Agu said that the Financial Malpractices Investigation Unit (FMIU) of Special Fraud Unit (SFU) said that between 2006 and 2008, as a Director of the Integrated Microfinance Bank, Dr. Abiola granted to herself without collateral and approval from the Management, the sum of N26,611,246.48. Dr. Abiola, of 42/46 Moshood Abiola Crescent, Ikeja, Lagos, and wife of the late Chief Moshood Abiola, is one of four Managing Directors or Directors of Integrated Microfinance Bank (IMFB) located at 6A Adeniyi Jones Avenue, Ikeja, who were arrested and charged by the SFU. JTF Smashes Militants’ Camp In Cross River

The Joint Task Force (JTF) in the Niger Delta said on Sunday that it had dismantled a militant camp in the Bakassi Local Government Area of Cross River.A statement by the media coordinator of the JTF, Lt.-Col. Onyema Nwachukwu, in Yenagoa, said that various arms were recovered from the camp.“During the clamp down, the troops recovered five Browning machine guns and ammunition.“Other items recovered from the camp include four machine gun belts and one passport fibre boat, belonging to the Inland Water Ways Agency,” JTF stated.According to Nwachukwu, the camp known in local parlance as the Efut Esighi Militant Camp, served as operational base for pirates and militants from where they attacked their victims.“JTF operatives destroyed three illegal crude oil distillation camps concealed in a forest at Agbede village and Egwua 2 general area of Esako West and Warri South West Local Government Areas of Edo and Delta States,” he said.In a similar operation conducted in Bayelsa and Rive

Assassination attempt: Gunmen fired shots at Stella Oduah's car

The Nigerian Police Command on Monday in Abuja confirmed that gunmen fired shots at the car of the Minister of Aviation, Ms Stella Oduah. The spokesperson of the command, DSP Altine Daniel, said the incident occurred at about 10 p.m. on Friday in Abuja. She added that the minister was not in the car when the incident took place. Daniel, however, said that the incident was reported to the police on Monday at about 5:3p.m. According to her, some metal objects were found in the vehicle which does not look like the conventional bullet. “The objects will be subjected to ballistic test,” she said. According to her, investigation into the incident has begun.
