                                    A popular local politician named Azeez Ashake was shot dead at close range in front of his house at Isale Eko on Saturday September 20th by suspected political thugs. His son, Usman was also shot but is said to still be alive receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Lagos Island.

                           On Sunday, Boko Haram invaded Monguno village in Borno State, leaving nine people dead, and 10 critically injured. The insurgents who were disguised as customers, attacked a market in the village around 3 p.m, shooting sporadically at traders, Pulse.ng reports.

                       The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) is currently embroiled in controversy over the alleged disappearance of N400 million, which is part of contributions of Nigerian workers for a housing project. The money is part of the sum of N960 billion allocated for a mortgage scheme for Nigerian workers, Vanguard reports.

                            An unknown man has butchered two children to death in Okha II village, off Old Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State. It was gathered that the man attacked a neighbouring family of five with a matchet and killed the two children and left others with serious injuries. Continue...

                    If your wife is mad at you, perhaps you could buy her flowers an iPhone 6 to appease her. Darius Wlodarski, a 41-year-old man from Poland, queued outside an Apple store in Bristol, England for 44 hours to buy an iPhone 6 to make his estranged wife happy, Daily Mail reports.

                        Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State on Sunday directed public primary and secondary schools in the state to start academic activities on October 8th. The schools had earlier been scheduled to open on September 22nd. Fashola made the announcement at an interactive session with principals, vice principals, head teachers and teachers in public primary and secondary schools in Lagos.

               Former head of state, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB) has reportedly been hospitalized in Germany. He was rushed to Germany from his residence in Minna, Niger State ten days ago, according to Sahara Reporters.
