Destiny’s Child reunite to sing popular Nigerian songics

In her latest single, American singer, Michelle Williams features the other halves of the defunct Destiny’s Child, Beyonce and Kelly Rowland, in a reunion for a popular Nigerian gospel song titled When Jesus Say Yes. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she revealed that the producer of the song Harmony Samuel said that the song is an ode to his Nigerian roots. Doctors suspend strike

Resident doctors nationwide have called on the federal government to accede to their demands or they would embark on an indefinite strike. The doctors gave the warning on Thursday after returning from a three-day warning strike to express their grievances at the insensitivity of the federal government to their plight and working conditions. The National President of the Association of Resident Doctors, NARD, Dr. Jubril Abdullahi, while confirming the resumption of the doctors, said the body will meet with federal government on June 17 to resolve the issues. He said that it was agreed that the issues in contention would be looked into and implemented as soon as possible. “Our leaders will go back to their places and inform their members of decisions arrived at and work will resume as soon as possible,” he said. Magistrate dies in prison custody

A magistrate in Oji River, Enugu State, Ifeoma Nnaji, died in the early hours of Wednesday while in prison custody in Enugu, prison sources said. Nnaji and her husband, Ifeanyichukwu, both of Ibagwa Nike in Enugu East Local Government Area, were remanded in prison custody for allegedly giving false information to the police, stealing and attempted murder. They were remanded by another magistrate, Chuks Mba, who agreed with the police prosecutor, Peter Eze, that everyone was equal before the law. The prosecutor had told the court that the accused were arrested for allegedly attempting to kill one Peter Okoro, their tenant, by raising a false alarm and calling an unidentified military man who unlawfully shot him. Eze also alleged that the accused stole one Tecno F8 phone worth N35 000 belonging to Okoro. He said the accused also gave false information to the police that Okoro and one Kingsley Ominyi entered her house with a gun and held her family hostage while demanding for money. A pr

US dumps Nigeria’s crude oil

  United States has finally stopped the importation of crude oil from Nigeria. The U.S. move has forced Nigeria to start looking for alternative markets for its crude, reports The Nation. Diezani Alison-Madueke, Minister of Petroleum Resources,said Nigeria is repositioning its exports in the light of this emergent threat and has so far begun a search to find alternative markets for its crude. Acknowledging the fact the U.S move will surely have its impact, she said the country must adopt to sustainable economic policies in line with the changes in global economy. Nollywood actress Chioma Chukwuka-Akpotha alleged that she was harassed alongside her executive producer by unnamed police officers in Enugu.
