Udokwu will be attempting to win the seat currently occupied by Tony One Week.
Udokwu said in Abuja on Thursday that he was vying for the seat to contribute his quota to national development.
He said that he decided to begin his political career from the state level to have a feel of grassroots politics.
‘‘I didn't want to jump to the federal level and vie for House of Representatives seat because i always believe in humble beginnings.I would have vied for Local Government Chairman's seat but that election was held last year and I wasn't prepared for it. But I know that my modest beginning in political landscape will be from the State House of Assembly and I want to be part of decision making in my state,'' Udokwu said.
He said that some politicians talked about change without knowing exactly what they want to change.
Udokwu also said that his intention was to ensure that his children and other citizens enjoyed the benefits of democracy through his contributions.
He said it was unfortunate that most of the conditions that were in existence when he graduated from the university 25 years ago were still there, while others had got worse.
“I happened to be among the pioneers of Nollywood out of nothing and it later became a world renowned multi-billion naira industry. Today, I feel that it’s high time I also contributed to the political process or decision making in my own little way.Posterity will judge me fairly that I took action than not taking any at all or sit on my backside and complain." he added.
Idemili North Constituency comprises 10 towns, including Ogidi, Udokwu’’s community and hometown of the late literally icon, Chinua Achebe.
