The Emir of Kano State and one of Nigeria's most prominent traditional rulers, Ado Abdullahi Bayero, has passed on, according to Saharareporters.
The Emir, who has been ill for some time, was said to have died in the early hours of Friday according to family sources.

                 Reports of building collapsing while under construction in many parts of Nigeria have heightened prospect of demonstrations against leading cement producers. Dagote Cement Plc is said to be most vulnerable to the feared protests. Several inspectors in the construction industry suspected that the collapse of buildings could be attributed to poor quality cement, an allegation that was vehemently denied by the Dangote Cement Plc arguing that their products ere up to international standards. The country coalition of civil society groups expressed grave concern over reports of collapsing buildings before threatening to demonstrate against major cement producers
