FG provides proof of payment, tells ASUU to resume

The Presidency has released a letter from the Central Bank confirming payment of two hundred billion naira for ASUU.
It also said it has soft pedalled on the ultimatum earlier issued to the striking lecturers.

At a news briefing in Abuja, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affair, Dr DoyinOkupe, said the letter signed by the CBN Deputy Governor Operations, Tunde Lemo was to further clear the doubts by ASUU that government had redeemed the agreement so far reached.

Dr Okupe, said a meeting between government representatives and ASUU to work out details on NEED assessment strategy will be called today or tomorrow.

On the ultimatum, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to the President explained that government decided to relax it due to substantial compliance by some of the lectures.

Dr Okupe who appealed to ASUU to consider the positive steps taken by government and go back to the classroom, gave an assurance that government would continue to ensure good governance, orderliness and peaceful co-existence among the citizens.
