The duo’s intended target location was Maiduguri’s Monday Market. However, the explosives blew them up while they were waiting for a bus that would take them to the market. Seven other individuals were injured and were immediately taken to Maiduguri General Hospital for treatment. There were no other casualties.
A taxi driver, Mallam Mohammdu Abor, who claimed that drove through Auno on Sunday afternoon, told journalists that he saw the mangled bodies of the suicide bombers by the roadside.
He said the people of the town were standing at a distance from the bodies as they were apprehensive that they might still have undetonated explosives on them.
Speaking on the matter, the spokesman for the youth vigilance group in Borno State, Jibrin Gunda, said he was informed about the incident, adding that his men had intensified their stop-and-search mission.
