Lil' Chris - star of Channel 4 reality show Rock School - is found dead aged 24

The 24-year old actor, singer and TV personality (pictured left and right) who real name is Chris Hardman, reportedly died on Monday, months before he was planning a pop comeback. Suffolk Police said Hardman's death would not be treated as suspicious. After news of his death emerged, tributes flooded in for the young singer from fellow celebrities. Caroline Flack tweeted that he was a 'polite lovely guy' (inset top) while presenter Mark Rhodes also described him as 'a lovely young lad'. Centre for China Studies Opens in Abuja

The Centre for China Studies to carry out rigorous research and promote traditional solidarity on China-Africa relations has opened in Abuja. The Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Gu Xiaojie speaking at the opening in Abuja yesterday said the relationship between Nigeria and China has witnessed remarkable achievements over the years along with the friendly cooperation between Africa and China. Represented by the Deputy Ambassador of the Embassy, Xiaojie said 2015 marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of strategic partnership, which provides an opportunity for deepening cooperation between both sides. "Some research institutes and think tanks like CCS have been set up to conduct an overall study of China and Nigeria-China relations, which have played an active role in enhancing mutual understanding and trust. he said.

Obama, ECOWAS seek peaceful polls in Nigeria

United States President Barack Obama and the the Economic Community of West African States have stressed that only fair and transparent elections will guarantee a true democratic process in Nigeria. Obama made his comment via a video posted on Monday on the White House official website while the ECOWAS Chairman and Ghananian President, John Mahama, spoke in Abuja. The US President, who also called for the safe rescue of the more than 200 kidnapped Chibok girls by Boko Haram, reminded Nigerians that “successful elections and democratic progress” would help Nigeria meet the challenges it currently faces. Senegal's Karim Wade jailed for corruption

A court in Senegal has sentenced the son of former President Abdoulaye Wade to six years in prison for corruption. Karim Wade was also fined $230m (£150m) for illegal enrichment during his father's 12-year rule. He was chosen at the weekend as the presidential candidate of the main opposition party, the PDS. President Macky Sall warned last week that his government would not tolerate any attempt to destabilise Senegal after the court gave its verdict. Mr Sall defeated Abdoulaye Wade in fiercely contested elections in 2012 . Karim Wade was accused of illegally amassing about $1.4bn, but was cleared of some of the charges by a special anti-corruption court in the capital, Dakar. Gift Wahab, the 20-year-old lady, who allegedly stabbed her boyfriend to death in Ajegunle area of Lagos last Thursday, said she was hypnotized by a force she could not resist. The suspect, who said she was yet to come to terms with the reality of her boyfriend’s death, said the argument that resulted in the fight, which led to her boyfriend’s death, was over N200.  vanguard  reports.
