President Jonathan Visits Nyanya Bomb Blast Scene, Victims At The Hospital

The president has cancelled his scheduled trip to Ibadan this morning to visit the Nyanya bomb blast scene. Civil Right Lawyer According to reports today Tuesday, April 15 , 2014, Mr. Ebun Olu-Adegboruwa talks about an assassination attempt on his life. Adegboruwa is a human rights lawyer who led protests against tolling of Lekki-Epe expressway by Lagos State government and Lekki Concession Company (LCC), and eventually won a suite against the Lagos state government. Suspects Two sex convicts charged with raping and murdering four Los Angeles-area women were wearing GPS monitoring bracelets for having assaulted children when they allegedly committed the serial killings that began last fall, police said Monday. Steven Dean Gordon, 45, and Franc Cano, 27, are registered sex offenders on parole for sexual acts with children younger than 14. The two transients were arrested Friday near an Anaheim trash-sorting facility where the naked body of 21-year-old Jarrae Nykkole Estepp, of Modesto, was found on a conveyor belt in March. They were charged Monday with raping and killing her and three other women living in Orange County, all of whom had been involved in prostitution. Police would not say whether the bodies of the other three -- Kianna Jackson, 20; Josephine Monique Vargas, 34, and Martha Anaya, 28 -- have been found. Boko Haram Abducts 103 Girls From High School In Chibok, Borno State

High school girls According to reports, 103 girls were kidnapped after an attack on a Girls Secondary School located in Chibok, a town on the border of Adamawa and Borno state. Gunmen reportedly arrived at the school in Chibok around 9pm, killed the soldier stationed to protect the students and took 103 out of the 250 girls that make up the school. The men took the girls away in four lorries. A source who lives near the school told a correspondent of SaharaReporters that there was complete chaos during the attack, adding that the students could put up no resistance to the heavily armed attackers. The mass abduction lasted between 9PM -3 AM as sect members made several trips picking and choosing their victims out of the 250 students enrolled in the school.  Residents of the area also told Saharareporters that  the militants  razed 100 homes because some of the residents initially resisted the militants.

Abuja bomb blast: PDP accuses APC of culpability

The Peoples Democratic Party on Monday accused the opposition All Progressives Party of culpability in the bomb blast which killed over 70 people in Nyanya, Abuja, on Monday. While condemning the act which it described as barbaric, monstrous and extremely wicked, the PDP said the attacks were politically motivated. Internet scam: EFCC arrests seven undergraduates in Lagos

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), early this month, 15 th  of April, 2014, arrested seven undergraduates in Lekki for internet scams. They were picked up after they were informed that the boys were into illegal acts. Somewhere picked up at Lekki County Homes and others at Lekki phase one. According to EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, the raid on the two houses on April 15, led to the arrest of seven suspects, all undergraduates, and study various courses in some of the nation’s tertiary institutions.

Police arrest twins for robbery, burglary

Kehinde and Taiwo The Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Lagos has arrested a set of identical twins for robbing a factory belonging to Reckitt Benckiser, producers of Dettol. punchng.com Police authorities told  PUNCH Metro  that the duo, Taiye and Kehinde Balogun, were welders and were hired by a robbery gang to break into the firm’s warehouse in May last year. The robbery gang, it was learnt, robbed the company of soap noodles and chemicals worth N17m. It was learnt that after the robbery, SARS detectives launched an investigation into the case and the prime suspects were arrested in February. The suspects were said to have implicated the twins who were subsequently arrested. The twins, who are both 27-years-old, told  PUNCH Metro  that they were not aware that they were being hired for a robbery operation.
