 Dailypost  reports that Gov. Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti and APC gubernatorial candidate in the June 21 election, has challenged his PDP counterpart, Mr Ayodele Fayose, to a public debate. Fayemi, who threw the challenge on Tuesday in Ikoro-Ekiti, said he would want the debate to focus on the state of education since he assumed office four years ago. He said the debate would enable him to put the records straight on the allegation made by Fayose that education had not improved in the state beyond the point where Fayose stopped as governor. He said contrary to Fayose’s claim that the state was now poorer in WAEC ranking; his administration had improved the level of students’ performances in external examinations. He added that his administration had also improved upon the welfare of teachers. Fayemi reminded his political rival that he did not pick his Doctor of Philosophy degree on the street, saying he knew the value of education, having studied hard to acquire his. He stressed that

 Source reports that  Four students of the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, have been paraded by the Kwara State Police Command over armed robbery and cultism. The suspects, Olawuyi Babatunde, Osadahin Matthew, Bamikole Emmanuel and Adebisi, all confessed to be members of the Eiye cult group after interogation. Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Ambrose Aisabo, said the four students attacked and robbed one Adeolu Emmanuel, a neighbour to one of the suspects, on the 18th of April. "The suspects were arrested after successfully robbing one Adeolu Emmanuel of his property including laptops, four assorted telephones, one deck with speakers and N30,000 cash. "On interrogation, the suspects confessed to be members of the Eiye cult group and also confessed to have been responsible for robberies around Offa and its environs in recent times”, the police boss said. D'banj According to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, the entertainer visited the victims at the Asokoro District Hospital, Abuja in company of the FCT Health Secretary, Dr Ademola Onakomaiya. During his visit, D'banj said the government alone cannot do all that is required for peace to reign in the country. "I am a Nigerian and I am affected by any tragedy that befalls us and particularly in the spirit of Easter, I came to show the victims support. I have seen that the survivors are responding positively to treatment and thanked the medical team here for the efforts. "We are appealing to the perpetrators of these acts to have a rethink and support the peace initiative so that our people would not be subjected to such wickedness,” he said.
