Helicopters drop food items, arms for Boko Haram members - Yobe elders say

Former Minister of Finance, Mallam Adamu Ciroma; former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Ambassador Babagana Kingibe; elder statesman, Shetima Mustapha and other political leaders from Yobe and Borno state yesterday held a press conference in Abuja where they revealed that members of the Islamic sect were being supplied food, medicine and arms with helicopters and wondered why security agents and the state governments have kept mum on this fact. The elders who met under the umbrella of "Borno Yobe Peoples Forum" wondered why the 20-hilux car convoys of Boko Haram members can move freely and execute their plans without being intercepted by security men who are supposed to monitor movement even with the curfew both states are placed on right now. 

Nigerian Army In ‘Major Operation’ To End Wanton Killings In North Central Nigeria

Nigeria Army Force The Nigerian Army says it has commenced a major operation to put an end to the activities of all armed men and criminal gangs who have been engaging in wanton killing and destruction of property in Benue, Nassarawa and Plateau, three states in the North-Central hub of the country.   A statement by the Director, Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade, said that the operations are meant to capture and neutralize all the enclaves of criminal gangs. The Nigerian Air Force, Police and other security agencies are participating in the operation.          General Olukolade called on law-abiding citizens to cooperate by providing timely and useful information about their localities in order to facilitate the operation there. One problem is that affected communities often complain that when they try to reach the authorities during attacks, they are ignored until when they assailants have completed their mayhem and departed. Shan Georges Nollywood actress Shan George was robbed over the weekend in her house in Calabar. The actress said the thieves stole almost everything in the house, from her electronics to jewellery, shoes, watches, cash and also went away with some of her car parts, after they broke it's side window to have access to the car. But shockingly, everyone who has been consoling her, have called it a blessing to her...... she still did not believe that the incident could be a blessing to her, how is a thing like this a blessing she said!.
