Chibok, beginning of Boko Haram’s end – JONATHAN

Image
President Goodluck Jonathan declared, yesterday, that the abduction of over 200 schoolgirls from a secondary school in Chibok, Borno State, by Boko Haram Islamist sect was the beginning of the end of terror in the country. president, who received unprecedented pledges of support in human and material resources to end the Boko Haram insurgency from world leaders in the last three days, said he was confident that the carnage of the terrorists would come to an end soon. Meanwhile, President Barack Obama of the United States of America, USA, has said that the kidnapping of Nigerian girls and sectarian conflicts worldwide are a sign that “we have not extinguished man’s darkest impulses.” Obama spoke while accepting humanitarian award from legendary movie director, Steven Spielberg at the University of Southern California’s Shoah Foundation, a Holocaust museum founded by Spielberg after he made the film “Schindler’s List.” On the flip side, President Obama’s wi

Obamacare Plans' Unexpected Sticker Shock

Image
Alarming predictions that the premiums for individual health plans would skyrocket in the first year of Obamacare turned out to be largely unfounded. But the roughly 8 million people who bought insurance through the Affordable Care Act exchanges may suffer some sticker shock as they begin using their benefits. That’s because many of the plans make consumers shoulder a lot of the costs of their medical care through deductibles, co-pays, and co-insurance—payments the newly insured may not have grasped when they signed up. Research suggests that most people don’t understand those terms . “Most people, as soon as they have health-care coverage, they expect to go to the drug store and pay whatever their co-pay is for their prescription, not have to meet a deductible,” says Gina Boscarino, senior policy director at Breakaway Policies. She helped produce a new report (pdf) with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation examining the new health plans.

Zayn Mallik’s arrives at radio studio looking smart in monochrome while her Little Mix bandmate Jesy Nelson indulged in punk-rock chic

Image
They’re one of Britain’s biggest girl bands, so dressing to impress is in their favour. Zayn Mallik’s fiancé Perrie Edwards stole the show as the band arrived individually at the Captial FM studios in central London on Friday morning. Looking smart and suave in monochrome, the 20-year-old went for a vastly different look to her band mate Jesy Nelson who appeared to be channelling her inner rock-goddess in fishnet tights and gothic boots. With sunglasses on, the star showed off her flame red hair in tumbling curls and wore a dipped-hem tie-dye dress which covered up her renowned curves. With a little black leather jacket keeping her warm, Jesy wore oodles of jewellery from rings to bracelets and a necklace too – she was clearly in an accessorising mood.

British tourist  A British tourist accused of stealing a moped in Thailand was beaten to death in jail by a fellow inmate while in prison, an inquest has heard. Sean Flanagan died after a man allegedly jumped onto his body with both knees before pressing down on him so hard he suffered broken ribs and 'blunt-object trauma'. Yet it took Thai authorities eight months to begin an investigation into the death, following pressure from the victim's family. Initially, the authorities had claimed that Flanagan had fallen off a wall but another prisoner at Pattaya Remand Prison has now been charged with his manslaughter. Mr Flanagan, 46, divided his time between his home at Dalton, Cumbria, and Thailand, where his girlfriend lived. Ian Smith, the coroner for South and East Cumbria, concluded Flanagan’s death was due to ‘injuries following an assault or assaults’. A post mortem was carried out on April 24 after his body was repatriated, the inquest at Barrow Town Hall he

Boko Haram Members Are Mindless Bigots Masquerading As Muslims- Muhammadu Buhari

Image
Muhammadu Buhari has condemned Boko Haram for their different havocs in the country and for abducting over 200 school girls. He says the group does not portray the Islamic faith he practices and are mindless bigots portraying themselves as Muslims. Here is part of his statement to Vanguard Newspaper; “It is clear from what they profess that they are not followers of God. They do not mean well for our country and her citizens. I am a Muslim, I am versed in the teaching of Christianity and I understand both religions seek peaceful co-existence of all humanity. Continue after the cut. “I wish to reiterate that there is no justification whatsoever for this unrestrained disregard for the sanctity of human life. It has no place in the Holy Quran and neither does it have a place in the Holy Bible. “Let these people know that the entire civilised world is united against their terrorist act. We are grateful to the world for standing by Nigeria at this trying time.

A picture of Willow Smith with a 20-year-old has sparked controversy after it was posted online. In the black and white Instagram snap, the daughter of Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith is seen with actor Moises Arias. Arias, famous for his role as Rico on Disney’s Hannah Montana, is shirtless as he leans against a wall, while Willow lies on her side next to him, her head resting on her arm. The People Of Chibok Demand Answers And Actions

Image
According to a report  on April 14, suspected Boko Haram terrorists invaded Chibok. That invasion came one year after a foiled attempt that led to the burning of the police station in the community. I am not just concerned because this happened in Chibok, my own home. I am more worried that the Nigerian military in charge of security in Borno State, where a state of emergency had been imposed, was doing little to save the situation. I understand that security agents were informed more than an hour before the insurgents entered Chibok, yet they made no efforts for reinforcement or evacuation of the endangered schoolgirls. On hearing the gunshots, the security agents reportedly fled for safety instead of standing their ground. According to them, the terrorists had more sophisticated weaponry. Unable to match Boko Haram’s firepower, they scampered for safety, removing their uniforms and collecting muftis from civilians to wear as they ran off. Before their acts of destruction, lo
