According to reports today Tuesday, April 15 , 2014, Mr. Ebun Olu-Adegboruwa talks about an assassination attempt on his life.
Adegboruwa is a human rights lawyer who led protests against tolling of Lekki-Epe expressway by Lagos State government and Lekki Concession Company (LCC), and eventually won a suite against the Lagos state government.
He attended Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife and thereafter the Nigerian Law School in 1995. He had worked with late Chief Gani Fawehinmi’s Chambers before he set-up a law firm, Adegboruwa & Company with corporate office in Lekki-Ajah.
The lawyer claims those men were very mean and looked very determined, not like the usual armed robbers looking for material gain.
He believes these men were attempting to kill him, and claims they were the enemies of people of the masses of Nigeria. “One of my neighbours has since confirmed that he actually saw a car that dropped off these armed men around my fence at about 2a.m. They were sent on specific instructions,” he recalls.
He adds that this attack is most likely connected to the fact that on March 27th this year he was the one who stood for the case of cancelling a collection of toll fee on the Lekki Ikoyi bridge. The same day when the attack was made, he argued against the request of Lagos State to stop this judgement. "Thus, this is just a case of the witch cried yesterday and the child died today,” he adds.

He believes that this attempt was made by people interested in continuing collection of toll fees at thebridge, and that it was made to discourage him in his “legitimate struggle against illegality, oppression and all undemocratic tendencies of our governments. I will not give up on this struggle, no matter the intimidation and harassment, that I may face.”
He urges the people of Nigeria to support him in putting the responsibility on Lagos State Government as well as all people interested in fees at the Lekki-Ikoyi bridge should anything happen to him. He adds that the government should be ready to hear and support people who have different opinion than they do.
“My life is in the hands of God, therefore I do not fear what man can do to me. I know that ultimately, those who are now after my life, will one day face the Supreme Court of God, where they will have to account for all their misdeeds, including their corruption and misgovernance.”
He believes that the struggle is not over, but is certain of a win.
