Aspirants seeking to contest presidential election on the ticket of the United Progressive Party (UPP) in the 2015 are expected to pay the sum of N15 million for nomination forms.
The party has also fixed nomination fees for other political offices at N5 million for governorship, N1 million for Senate, N500,000 for the House of Representatives and N200,000 for aspirants interested in running for the state House of Assembly.
These were contained in the guidelines and timetable for party congresses/primary elections for all elective offices in the country including the presidential primary election/national convention approved at the party's Tuesday's National Executive Committee (NEC).
In a communique issued at the end of its NEC meeting in Abuja, the party said it would hold its presidential convention on December 8. Vangard reports.
Okorie, as far as facts on the ground are concerned, said before the elections UPP has already become the beautiful bride, insisting that the zoning of presidency to the south-east does not in any make the party less a national party.
He said many members of the party are from other parts of the country, while the UPP secretariat has continued to be inundated with people seeking membership status.
The national chairman of UPP also condemned the action of the Nigerian Police in striping the Speaker of the House Representatives, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, of his security protection, saying that such a move was a bad omen as the country prepares for next year's election.
