Pres. Jonathan appoints new Chief Justice of Nigeria

President Goodluck Jonathan has nominated Mahmud Mohammed as the new Chief Justice of Nigeria.
Mr. Mohammed’s nomination was sent by the president to the Senate and was read Wednesday.
If confirmed, the Supreme Court judge will replace Aloma Muhtar as Nigeria’s Chief Justice.
Mrs. Muhtar will retire November 20 after attaining the mandatory 70 years of age.
Mr. Jonathan’s letter read: “In conformity with section 231 sub section (1) of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended, which gives the President powers to appoint a Chief Justice of Nigeria, acting on the recommendation of the National Judicial Council and subject to confirmation of the appointment by the Senate, I have the honour to forward the nomination of Honourable Justice Mahmud Mohammed, CFR for confirmation as Chief Justice of Nigeria.” PremiumTimes reports.

Ray J has given Kim Kardashian his share of the 2014 profits from their sex tape as a wedding gift. The 33-year-old singer has offered his former girlfriend and her fiancé Kanye West a cheque for almost $47 000, which is the amount of money he made from the X-rated Kim Kardashian Superstar video - which was filmed when they were dating in 2007 - between January and April this year. According to gossip website TMZ, Ray picked up $6135.60 in January, a staggering $20 097.31 in February, $9 674.76 in March, and $10 931.52 in April, and under the deal signed with Vivid Entertainment - who say the tape has made an estimated $50m to date - she is entitles to royalties at least the same as her former lover. It is unclear as yet whether Kim - who has 10-month-old daughter North with Kanye - will accept the gift, but if she doesn't, the singer has pledged to donate it to her favourite charity.
