Beyonce named top-earning woman in music, beating Taylor Swift

Taking home more than $115m (£72m) has made Beyonce this year's best paid woman in music. She had the "biggest year of her career", playing 95 shows, bringing in an average $2.4m (£1.5m) per city, according to Forbes.
Continue... Endorsement deals with companies like Pepsi and H&M, along with the surprise album she released in December 2013, helped her to the top spot. The self-titled album was released on iTunes with no prior promotion. Beyonce has just announced she'll be releasing a platinum version of that album later this month, which will include new songs and a concert video.

Source: Forbes Taylor Swift came in second on the Forbes list, taking home an estimated $64m (£40m). Completing the top three is Pink, who played 85 dates during the time period Forbes used to make its estimates. Her earnings were valued at $52m (£32.5m). Other artists on the list include Rihanna in fourth with $48m (£30m) and Katy Perry, who took home $40m (£25m), in fifth. Forbes calculated earnings by looking at income from "touring, record sales, publishing, merchandise sales, endorsements and other ventures" between June 2013 and June 2014. They also interviewed managers, lawyers and executives and looked at data from organisations such as Nielsen SoundScan. D'banj International act and boss of DB Records, D'Banj has dropped the Third singles off his anticipated album, the song titled Gifted, Featuring DJ Jimmy Jatt. The song comes a few days after D'Banj's second single titled Oya Wait Featuring Burna Boy hit the airwaves. Gifted was produced by DB record signees 2kriss and is expected to be on D'Banj I AM D'Banj which is set for release during the year.
Estranged wife of the head pastor of Mountain of Liberation Miracles Ministries, Bessem Okafor, has accused her husband, Chris of battery. Dr.Okafor whose church is located at the Ojodu, Berger area of Lagos state is said to have beaten up his wife at their home in Magodo. Bessem who has been living apart from her husband since 2012 claimed she had gone to visit her four children few weeks ago because were in custody of their father. The visit was said to have been arranged by a lawyer from the Office of the Public Defender, Lagos State Ministry of Justice, and her husband’s lawyer, Onyechukwu Ubani. She said, “I have not seen my children for nine months and our lawyers agreed that I could come see them at home after school hours by 5pm. I went to the house at the appointed time, but my children were not there.
African fashion week This years fashion week kicks off on march 7 at the intercontinential Hotel in Victoria Island in Lagos. According to the organisation to the organisers, the two days event celebrates African Fashion and will create a melting pot both established and upcoming fashion designers. The event is also expected to be a gathering of designers fabric manufacturers and printer jewelers, Photographers, make-up artist, model, fashion designers and fashionistas from across the continent.
