Interviewer “Well, First Off Don’t Start By Calling Her My Son”

Earlier this month, R. Kelly’s 14-year-old child Jaya, publicly came out as a transgender boy and announced he’s now going by the name Jay.
R. Kelly has remained silent on the news until now, when he was asked about his transgender son during a live radio interview. Jaya says he has identified as a male since the age of seven, but his famous singer father suggested that you shouldn’t believe everything you hear in the media.

“As far as that’s concerned, always believe what you see with your own eyes that is. That’s the best way to go about this business. I’ve heard a lot of things about a lot of people and it was never true,” Kelly told WCGI’s, The Morning Riot.
R. Kelly’s hometown radio station, Chicago’s WCGI, began by asking him to address his silence on the issue: “There [are] reports of your daughter becoming your son. Would you like to address that because a lot of blogs are saying you are not addressing it.“
“You don’t really wanna open it up by saying my daughter is becoming my son,” R. Kelly responded. “Don’t even give the blogs that kind of credit. You know what I’m saying? Real talk.“
He then said he was financially supportive of his kids…
“You save money so your kids can go to college no matter what they are or who they are. They’re still your kids, you love them you know, you gotta support them.” He added, “You gotta know there’s a back story. There’s a background. That’s why you can’t judge nobody.”
Kelly ended the conversation by saying he never addresses things that are said or written about him (and his family):
“I don’t address that though. That’s the thing. Why do you think I’ve been here for 27 years and still relevant? Because I don’t address sh*t that’s dumb. I just don’t do it.”"Well, first off don’t start by calling her my son. As far as that’s concerned, always believe what you see - with your own eyes that is.
