Ekiti State Government on Monday directed that the 2014 edition of the Children's Day Celebration be marked without the usual fanfare.
The State Commissioner for Education, Kehinde Ojo, announced this at a news conference in Ado Ekiti.
He said the decision to make the celebration a low-key one was due to the dictates of the mood of the nation.
"There is no how over 200 girls of a school can be kidnapped and still be with their abductors and expect their colleagues to file out celebrating.
"Ekiti State Government feels it will not be fair to stop the children from celebrating, hence we opted for a moderate celebration’’, he said.
Ojo said that since the event had been designated low-key, it would not be accompanied by the usual excitement, pump and ceremony.
