Singer Ewa has replied alleged copyright infringement accusations brought by legal representatives of music star 2face Idibia, reports Pulse.ng Ewa's legal representatives, Avante & Schmidt Law Firm, have said that Ewa did not illegally manipulate and super-impose 2face Idibia’s vocals in her recently released soundtrack: Crazy Love Her legal representatives insist that the musician legally paid to use 2face Idibia’s vocals.

Franck Ribery ruled out of World Cup

    Star winger Franck Ribery was ruled out of the World Cup on Friday dealing a huge blow to France's hopes of lifting the trophy in Brazil. The 31-year-old Bayern Munich forward's failure to recover from a nagging back injury was confirmed by coach Didier Deschamps at a press conference. Deschamps announced that midfielder Clement Grenier would also miss the World Cup because of a thigh injury he suffered in the 1-1 draw with Paraguay last Sunday.Deschamps called up Montpellier attacking midfielder Remy Cabella and Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin as replacements.

Anambra to spend N2bn on roads to Ogbunike cave

The Senior Special Assistant to the Anambra Governor on Media, James Eze, said on Thursday that the state government would rehabilitate the roads leading to the famous Ogbunike caves. Eze said in a statement in Awka that the contract for the road had been awarded at the rate of N2 billion. "The contractor for the road project has been mobilised up to 30 per cent of the contract sum while the project will be launched in the next two weeks. I believe that the roads will open up the Ogbunike community and create both business and income generation opportunities for the youth in the area,’’ he said. Eze said the state government would transform the cave into a world class tourist attraction, explaining that the feasibility study was underway for its renovation. He urged the community to be part of the state government’s agricultural programme geared to achieve food sufficiency and food security.

The Emir of Kano State and one of Nigeria's most prominent traditional rulers, Ado Abdullahi Bayero, has passed on, according to Saharareporters . The Emir, who has been ill for some time, was said to have died in the early hours of Friday according to family sources. Destiny’s Child reunite to sing popular Nigerian songics

In her latest single, American singer, Michelle Williams features the other halves of the defunct Destiny’s Child, Beyonce and Kelly Rowland, in a reunion for a popular Nigerian gospel song titled When Jesus Say Yes. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she revealed that the producer of the song Harmony Samuel said that the song is an ode to his Nigerian roots. Doctors suspend strike

Resident doctors nationwide have called on the federal government to accede to their demands or they would embark on an indefinite strike. The doctors gave the warning on Thursday after returning from a three-day warning strike to express their grievances at the insensitivity of the federal government to their plight and working conditions. The National President of the Association of Resident Doctors, NARD, Dr. Jubril Abdullahi, while confirming the resumption of the doctors, said the body will meet with federal government on June 17 to resolve the issues. He said that it was agreed that the issues in contention would be looked into and implemented as soon as possible. “Our leaders will go back to their places and inform their members of decisions arrived at and work will resume as soon as possible,” he said. Magistrate dies in prison custody

A magistrate in Oji River, Enugu State, Ifeoma Nnaji, died in the early hours of Wednesday while in prison custody in Enugu, prison sources said. Nnaji and her husband, Ifeanyichukwu, both of Ibagwa Nike in Enugu East Local Government Area, were remanded in prison custody for allegedly giving false information to the police, stealing and attempted murder. They were remanded by another magistrate, Chuks Mba, who agreed with the police prosecutor, Peter Eze, that everyone was equal before the law. The prosecutor had told the court that the accused were arrested for allegedly attempting to kill one Peter Okoro, their tenant, by raising a false alarm and calling an unidentified military man who unlawfully shot him. Eze also alleged that the accused stole one Tecno F8 phone worth N35 000 belonging to Okoro. He said the accused also gave false information to the police that Okoro and one Kingsley Ominyi entered her house with a gun and held her family hostage while demanding for money. A pr...
